Participants attending the forum are advised to check in advance whether they need a visa to enter the Republic of North Macedonia.

Visa Exemptions

Citizens of EU member states and countries signatory to the Schengen Agreement may enter North Macedonia without a visa, using a valid passport or national ID card.
The permitted stay is up to 90 days within a 180-day period.

In addition, nationals of many other countries may enter North Macedonia without a visa, depending on bilateral agreements.

Entry Without a Macedonian Visa (Special Cases)

Foreign nationals who hold one of the following documents are allowed to enter and stay in North Macedonia for up to 15 days, without needing a Macedonian visa:

  • A valid multiple-entry Schengen visa (Type C) valid for at least 5 days after the intended stay in North Macedonia
  • A valid visa or permanent residence permit issued by the USA, Canada, or the United Kingdom

This applies only if there are no other specific restrictions based on nationality.

Types of Visas

If a visa is required, applicants should apply for the appropriate category:

Types of entry visas:

  • Airport Transit Visa (‘А’ visa),
  • Short-Stay and Transit Visa (‘C’ visa) , up to 90 days
  • Long-Stay Visa (‘D’ visa)

Document needed for short-stay visa, up to 90 days (‘C’ visa), i.e. transit visa of up to 5 days: 

  • recognized travel document valid at least 3 months beyond the period of intended stay in the country
  • (individual and collective) travel insurance documents (policy issued by a legal insurance entity of the country of residence)
  • notarized warranty letter i.e., invitation letter by a Macedonian natural/legal person
  • proof of possession of sufficient resources for the duration of the stay in the country (credit card/bank statement)
  • photography (size 3.5×4.5 cm) in color with white background where the face of the applicant is clearly visible
  • proof of paid fees for processing the visa application 
  • neatly and legibly filled out visa application
