Participants attending the forum are advised to check in advance whether they need a visa to enter the Republic of North Macedonia.

Visa Exemptions

Nationals of EU Member States and signatories of the Schengen Agreement DO NOT need a visa to enter the Republic of North Macedonia (and are eligible to enter the Republic of North Macedonia with a valid national identity card).

Third-country nationals with temporary residence in an EU Member State or a country signatory of the Schengen Agreement may stay no longer than 15 (fifteen) days upon every entry into the territory of the Republic of North Macedonia as long as the total length of stay does not exceed 90 days in any 180-day period.

Third-country nationals with multiple-entry Schengen visa (type C) valid for at least 5 (five) days beyond the intended stay in the Republic of North Macedonia may stay no longer than 15 (fifteen) days upon every entry into the territory of the Republic of North Macedonia as long as the total length of stay does not exceed 90 days in any 180-day period.

The Decision on the temporary abolition of short-term stay visas (visa C) in the Republic of North Macedonia has been adopted for foreign citizens holding valid travel documents of third countries who hold a valid multiple-entry British, American or Canadian visa, inserted in the passport, whereby the length of their stay in the Republic of North Macedonia should be up to 15 days, and the validity of the valid multiple-entry British, American and Canadian visa, inserted in the passport should be 5 days longer than the planned stay in the Republic of North Macedonia.  The Decision is of a temporary character and is valid from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2025

Holders of UN travel documents do not require a visa.

Types of Visas

If a visa is required, applicants should apply for the appropriate category:

Types of entry visas:

  • Airport Transit Visa (‘А’ visa),
  • Short-Stay and Transit Visa (‘C’ visa) , up to 90 days
  • Long-Stay Visa (‘D’ visa)

Short-Stay and Transit Visa (‘C’ visa) 

Document needed for short-stay visa, up to 90 days (‘C’ visa), i.e. transit visa of up to 5 days:

  • recognized travel document valid at least 3 months beyond the period of intended stay in RNM
  • (individual and collective) travel insurance documents (policy issued by a legal insurance entity of the country of residence)
  • notarized warranty letter i.e., invitation letter by a Macedonian natural/legal person
  • proof of possession of sufficient resources for the duration of the stay in RNM (credit card/bank statement)
  • photography (size 3.5×4.5 cm) in color with white background where the face of the applicant is clearly visible
  • proof of paid fees for processing the visa application
  • neatly and legibly filled out visa application

The fee pursuant to the LAF – Tariff No. 135 for short-stay and transit visa is – 60 euros or 35 euros for children aged 6-12
