About: John Sloan is an Economist with the UN Economic Commission for Africa. He specializes in industrial policy and natural resources, focusing on the transition from natural resource dependence to industrialization and economic transformation. He has worked for fifteen years with the United Nations in Addis Ababa, Beirut and New York.
