About: Ms Mapolao Rosemary Mokoena is the Head of the Directorate of Infrastructure at the SADC Secretariat, responsible for advancing the development of strategic infrastructure across the Southern African region. Her portfolio covers the sectors of Energy, Transport, Information, Communication and Technology (ICT), Water, and Meteorology. An Economist by profession, Ms Mokoena brings over 16 years of experience in regional infrastructure development. She has played a pivotal role in the formulation and implementation of the SADC Regional Energy Access Strategy Action Plan (REASAP), the SADC Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Strategy and Action Plan (REEESAP) and the SADC Industrial Energy Efficiency Programme (SIEEP), guiding the region towards, among others, sustainable, low-carbon energy solutions. She is currently facilitating the formulation of the SADC Energy Transition Framework.
